Vegferd in ChatGPT and Claude

Ask about the trip where you already ask

Vegferd answers in ChatGPT and Claude with the same route calculation as in the app: the ferries in real time, closed roads and mountain passes, the weather along the route when you pass, and what the trip costs in tolls and ferries. You sign in with the same account as in the app. Vegferd in ChatGPT and Claude requires Vegferd Pluss, which you buy in the app.

ChatGPT

Add Vegferd to ChatGPT

Vegferd has been submitted to ChatGPT’s directory. Until it is approved, you can use Vegferd in Claude, as described below.

  1. Open Vegferd in the directory and choose “Add”. ChatGPT asks whether Vegferd may answer on your behalf.

  2. Enter the email address you use in Vegferd. You get a six-digit code by email, just like in the app. If the account does not have Vegferd Pluss, the page tells you.

  3. Ask by text or voice. Vegferd answers with its own figures and always says where they come from.

Claude

Add Vegferd to Claude

Claude connects to Vegferd as a connector of its own. It takes a minute on claude.ai, and the connector follows your account to the apps.

  1. On claude.ai: Settings → Connectors → “Add custom connector”.

  2. Paste https://api.vegferd.no/mcp and save. Claude finds out by itself where you sign in.

  3. Enter your email address, type the code you get by email, and press “Allow”.

What you can ask about

Its own figures, not guesswork

Vegferd calculates the route on its own road network from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, gets the ferries from Entur, the traffic messages and weather stations from the Public Roads Administration, the weather from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and the chargers from NOBIL. When Vegferd does not know, it says so.

Vegferd covers Norway, books nothing and does not start navigation. The app does that.

How your data is handled in AI assistants

  • “When does the next ferry leave Halhjem, and is it on time?”
  • “How long does Bergen–Ålesund take tomorrow at 7, with the ferries included?”
  • “Is Haukelifjell closed or under convoy driving now?”
  • “What will the driving conditions be over Dovrefjell when I pass?”
  • “What does Oslo–Trondheim cost in tolls and ferries for a car?”
  • “Where can I charge on the way, and are there free chargers now?”
  • “Is there a road without a ferry, or without tolls?”
