Questions about Vegferd
The answers to the questions we are asked most often. If you cannot find yours, write to us at the bottom of the page; we answer ourselves.
Is Vegferd free?
Yes. Navigation, rerouting, the ferries in the route, the price of tolls and ferries, closed-road warnings, CarPlay and Android Auto are free. Vegferd Pluss adds live ferry and charger data, and the road conditions along the route.
Why does Vegferd show “Timetable” and no waiting time for some ferries?
Because there is no real-time data for that route. We then give the timetable and say that the waiting time is unknown, instead of guessing.
Why is the speed limit shown as “?”
Because we do not have the speed limit for that stretch. Vegferd then shows the unknown sign instead of the last limit it knew. An old number that looks right is worse than an honest question mark.
Why is the price higher than I expected?
The total is the full price without discount agreements, and it combines tolls and ferries in one list. If you have an AutoPASS agreement, you pay less than what is shown.
Where does the data come from?
From the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, the Norwegian Mapping Authority, Entur, NOBIL (Enova), Statistics Norway and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. Routes are computed on our own road network, built from the national road database.
How do I use Vegferd in ChatGPT or Claude?
Connect Vegferd in the assistant and sign in with the same account as in the app. It requires Vegferd Pluss, bought in the app. The recipe is on the Vegferd in ChatGPT and Claude page.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app, under your account: “Delete account”. The account, the email address and the sign-in sessions are then deleted for good. Your vehicles stay on the phone. If you cannot open the app, write to us below with the email address of the account.
How do I report an error in a route or a ferry connection?
Write to us using the form below, with the stretch and what is wrong. Include what you saw in the app; that is usually enough for us to work out what happened.
